This Privacy Policy explains how Steamgauge Consulting LLC, doing business as Sequence (“Sequence,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information when you use sequenceapp.life, app.sequenceapp.life, and related services (the “Services”).
1. Who we are
Sequence is a household productivity tool operated by Steamgauge Consulting LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. Contact us at support@sequenceapp.life.
2. Information we collect
- Account & authentication. We use Clerk for sign-up and sign-in. Clerk may process identifiers such as email address, name, authentication credentials, and session data on our behalf.
- Household & task data. Content you create in the app—including household membership, tasks, routines, notes, and related preferences—is stored to provide the Services.
- Billing. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Card numbers and payment details are handled by Stripe; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. We may receive billing status, invoices, and limited payment metadata from Stripe.
- Technical & usage data. We may collect device/browser type, IP address, approximate location, logs, and product usage events needed to operate and secure the Services.
- Optional error tracking. If enabled, we may use error-monitoring tools that collect diagnostic information (such as stack traces and device context) to fix bugs. These tools are configured to minimize unnecessary personal data.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and improve the Services, authenticate users, manage household sharing, process subscriptions, communicate support and service updates, maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
4. How we share information
We share data with service providers who help us operate Sequence, including:
- Clerk (authentication)
- Stripe (billing)
- Fly.io (application hosting)
- Neon (database hosting)
- Cloudflare (DNS and marketing site hosting)
- Optional error-tracking providers, when enabled
These providers process data under contracts and only as needed to deliver their services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
5. Household privacy
Sequence is designed for households. Members you invite may see shared household tasks and related content according to the app’s sharing model. You are responsible for inviting only people you trust and for the information you choose to share within a household.
6. Cookies and sessions
We and our providers use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session management, security, and essential product functionality. Disabling certain cookies may prevent you from signing in or using the Services.
7. Data retention
We retain account and household data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Billing records may be retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.
8. Access, export, and deletion
You may request access to, export of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting support@sequenceapp.life. We will respond within a reasonable time. Deleting an account may remove or anonymize associated household content, subject to legal retention needs and data belonging to other household members.
9. Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Where we operate
Sequence is offered to users in the United States and Canada. If you access the Services from elsewhere, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law. Data may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your devices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with an updated effective date on this page. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
